Are you naturally a genuine pacer or did you acquire that pace by doing extra exercises like gym? (from Shahbaz)
I actually get asked this question a lot. My pace is natural though you can help your body by going in the gym and doing the right exercises to keep your body strong. But I think you don't just become fast from doing gym work, you need a natural ability to bowl fast.
What is the fastest you have bowled and do you plan on going even quicker? (from Waleed (?) and Bobby (?))
The fastest recorded delivery I have bowled is 160.2 kmh in an ODI against New Zealand at the MCG on February 6, 2007. But I reckon I have bowled faster when the speed gun was not working, like in the Twenty20 match against New Zealand in Perth last year. So I suppose I still think I can bowl faster, yes.
Hi Shaun, I want to ask you what you take in a food that makes you a muscle man to deliver such extreme pace bowling? What is your diet to keep you fit? (from Vipin)
I eat just about anything really though I try to cut out fatty foods and keep a balanced diet, but there are still times we need fatty and sugary foods, but in moderation.
I saw you play for Sturt against Sourthern Districts and I was with my nana and asked for your autograph and I'd just like to say thanks because you are my favourite cricketer in the world. I now have your autograph framed in my room. (from Lokky, Australia)
No problem, I always try to take time out to sign autographs or speak to my fans if I can. Go well.
Do you learn a lot from Brett Lee? (from Jonathan and Zepha)
Yeah I have over the last few years. We are quite good mates and he has been keen to show me a few things and give me advice. Just being around him helps you feed off the way he goes about things.
Can you bowl faster than Shoaib Akhtar and Brett Lee? (from Brady (?) and James Connell, UK)
I would say we are all about the same, though I suppose there is no reason why I can't bowl faster than them. But I would think we are all there or thereabouts on the 150 kmh mark on average.
Who do you think is the next powerful team after Australia? (from Dili)
I would have to say South Africa. They can be pretty good on their day.
What's your favourite food?
An Australian barbeque or any seafood
Who do you think is the coolest player in the Australia team? (from Rachel)
Erm....that's a tough one....I suppose I would have to say Brett because fast bowlers are quite cool and he is also in a band and plays guitar.
From where in Adelaide did you graduate and what course did you study? (from Pradeep, Australia)
I didn't actually go to uni' at all as I began playing cricket as soon as I left High School.
