Australia fast bowler Shaun Tait is eyeing an Indian Premier League fortune and new career challenges after making his international comeback at the MCG on Sunday.

Tait claimed the winning wicket against South Africa as he took 2-36 from his allotment in the first of two Twenty20 Internationals. He also showed glimpses of his infamously frightening pace, clocking over 150kmh several times.

The Adelaide-based man confirmed after the match that he would be featuring in the IPL auction on February 5 after missing the first IPL edition through illness.

“It is exciting because it would be the start of a new career in one way and the Twenty20 game is one I have always enjoyed,” Tait said in the Courier Mail.

“(The IPL) has opened up new avenues for my career. Obviously our first thoughts are with Australian cricket but it would also be great to be part of a franchise over there,” he added.

Tait is likely to be one of the most sought-after players in the second auction along with countrymen Michael Clarke and Brad Haddin, and England’s Andrew Flintoff and Kevin Pietersen.
